Grading is very diagnostic in grades K-2. The report card will list the CORE standards on it. Next to each standard you will see an S, D, or a B next to it. This helps us and you identify your child’s strengths and weaknesses.
- S = Secure – Student is secure/independent in the skill.
- D = Developing – Student understands the skill, but is not independent
- B = Beginning – Student has difficulty understanding/applying the skill and is receiving intervention.
Also, papers that are handed back will have the same letters on them, as well as the number of questions that they got wrong.
Students will have a running work folder where samples of work will be placed. This means that not all papers will be coming home; however, they will be shown/discussed at parent conferences.

Ohhh… don’t you just love children and their misconceptions! Hopefully this year I will be able to help clear up those misconceptions by relating the things we learn to the real world!!
