Quarter 1 in Review!

BEHAVIOR:

The behavior this school year has been wonderful!  Overall, we’re such a nice classroom community!  Here is a picture of our almost complete Behavior Puzzle!  Once completed, we’ll spend a few hours celebrating (ie bringing in a board game or appropriate toy from home)!

READING:

We are wrapping up our 2nd Unit of Study in Reading! The picture below shows the TEACHING POINTS from each day’s mini-lesson.

In addition, all running records are completed and we took the STAR test yesterday!  That data will be presented at Parent Conferences and/or the report card.

WRITING:

Students have been working on their personal narratives.  In the picture below, students are buddy sharing.  They’ve been taught how to give compliments and suggestions.

In addition, they have been formally practicing their handwriting skills.

WORD STUDY:

Student groups are differentiated.  We have 4 groups.

Intervention – below level, Intervention – on level, On level, Advanced.

Mrs. Hayes teaches one group, Ms. Harpst teaches a group, and I take 2 groups!

Students are receiving “just-right” instruction!

SOCIAL STUDIES:

Students finished the COMMUNITIES & ALL ABOUT WORK unit! We played Jeopardy (picture below) and we took the test earlier this week.  Yesterday we started our next unit, PEOPLE OF OUR PAST, where be begin our focus on Native Americans.

OUR BULLETIN BOARD FOR Q1 🙂

MATH:

Students took their Q1 Benchmark test yesterday.

We started Topic 4 today!

Again, this data will show on their report card and/or will be discussed at Parent Conferences!
