Students have been learning the differentiating attributes of The White House and The Capitol Building. It is common for 2nd graders to confuse the two buildings, as they have similar architectural characteristics.
Not only are second graders learning to identify the two buildings, they’re also learning the purposes of the two buildings.
You can take a virtual tour of the inside of the White House. You can also “walk” around the streets of our Nation’s Capitol right from the convenience of your own home!

Students have also learned about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We discussed the first 10 Amendments. Students have asked some great questions and are astonished by the rights that they have (will have) as citizens. They had extreme interest in Amendment 4: Right of search and seizure regulated and Amendment 8: Excessive bail, cruel punishment. I invite you to have further discussion about these amendments at home!
