Today we started our first topic regarding money. Students need to be able to identify coins, tell their value, add change, and create different combinations of coins to reach a certain value. Today we observed and analyzed the symbols and attributes of each coin. Since the state quarters were minted, there are 51 different variations. We examined some of the symbols and explained why those symbols were chosen for that state’s quarter. The United States Mint H.I.P. Pocket Change Website allows children to learn about the significance of each symbol chose for each state quarter, educates them about the minting process, and so much more! You could spend hours on this site having fun and learning so much! Enjoy!
