Students listened to a book called Buffalo Snow written/illustrated by a local mother-daughter team, Eve Tulbert and Elizabeth Leader. Students recognized so many of the scenes in the book and made many text-to-self connections. It was very motivational for the kids knowing that this book is about our own city! The book inspired the theme for our door.
I set the backdrop with the skyline and Buffalo snowflakes. The students did the rest! They made Buffalo blizzard scenes on Buffaloes and and wrote an organized paragraph about what they like to do when it blizzards!
Even though we didn’t win the contest, we had so much fun doing this! I sent a picture of our door to Elizabeth Leader and she is in love with it!
